Employees Provident fund Organisation EPFO e-sewa portal removes Aadhaar from the list of documents for verifying date of birth, following UIDAI directive; alternative documents now required.
Employees Provident fund Organisation (EPFO e-sewa portal) is part of the Ministry of Labour and Employment. It is largest World Social Security Organisations, which avails provident fund schemes for workers of India. EPFO e-sewa portal has change the documents for date of birth verification.
Previously Aadhar card was used, but now the UIDAI (Unique Identification Authority of India) has set another document can be used other than Aadhar for verification. The reason for change was Aadhar doesn’t meet criteria for establishing DOB as per Aadhaar Act, 2016.
It mentioned an office memorandum dated December 20, 2018, issued by MeitY. It stated that “An Aadhaar number can be used for establishing identity of an individual subject to authentication and thereby, per se it’s not a proof of date of birth.”
